That might be overstating it a bit but traditional SEO (search engine optimisation) is certainly on life support – soon to be buried alongside its’ sibling pay-per-click. According to Scott McLay, SEO Manager at Equator, “80% of positive (and negative) SEO ranking factors still come from external sources”.
That validates what I’ve been hearing for a while now from various sources – you can tweak your page titles, content and URLs all you like and – whilst that’s all certainly worthwhile – SEO in the modern world is all about crafting great content that people like, share and link to. In short, it’s time to get serious about your link building strategy. What do you mean you don’t have one?
