Katie's AI Classes
Branding, web design, Craft CMS, custom plugin, technical SEO and maintenance.
Launching in Summer 2026, Katie's AI Classes is a new project by Irish entrepreneur and Dragon's Den winner Kate Hyde. Aimed at senior citizens in the US, Katie's AI Classes aims to demystify the Artificial Intelligence space, providing simple bitesize online and in-person classes covering topics like Machine Learning, Data Structures & Algorithms, and Natural Language Processing (NLP).
DesignKarma was asked to take this on immediately following the successful redesign of Kate's other project HenParty.ie. It's hoped that Katie's AI Classes will grow from a simple POC to a fully-fledged online learning resource, supporting a growing audience of Artificial Intelligence novices.
DesignKarma developed a simple corporate identity, along with a SEO-focussed website powered by Craft CMS. The initial aim be to generate awareness and build a small community of learners.
Custom Craft Plugin Development
The website is powered by Craft CMS, and as part of the project, DesignKarma was tasked with developing a custom Craft plugin. The plugin manages class bookings using a credit-based ledger system. More specifically, the plugin provides a robust foundation for:
- Class session bookings
- Credit spend and refunds
- Capacity enforcement
- Cancellation rules
- Account-level booking and credit history views
- Safe re-booking without data loss
Credits can be bought via Stripe, and then 'spent' on classes.
For the initial release this Summer, Kate decided to handle class bookings personally. So for now, the plugin is fully functional but not enabled. Instead, users sign up and then request a class booking using a form.
DesignKarma is very excited to see how this project turns out, as well as continuing to work with a client like Kate who is always bursting with energy and new ideas.
