Introducing Google Analytics for Craft CMS

Introducing Google Analytics for Craft CMS

by Ian Ebden in , .

I’ve just released a new Google Analytics plugin for Craft CMS, designed to give content editors and site owners a simple overview of their website performance directly from the Craft dashboard.

I built the plugin because I wanted something simple – a quick way for clients and content editors to see how their website is performing without having to leave Craft or navigate the more complex GA4 / Google Analytics 4 interface. There are already some excellent analytics tools available for Craft, but I couldn’t find a lightweight, dashboard-focused solution. So I made one!

Widget
The new Google Analytics for Craft CMS plugin widget in action.

The dashboard widget includes:

  • Users, sessions and page views
  • Previous-period comparisons
  • Interactive page-view trend chart
  • Top pages with links to the corresponding website pages
  • Traffic sources
  • 7, 30 and 90-day reporting periods
  • Support for multiple dashboard widgets
  • Direct access to the full Google Analytics report

Configuration is handled through the Craft control panel, with support for environment variables and built-in configuration status checking. Best of all, the plugin is free!

While this isn't DesignKarma's first plugin, it is the first public plugin, available through the official Craft Plugin Store. I'm looking forward to the feedback and any feature requests I might get from Craft users in the coming months.
